Ahimsa

Non-harm

Our number one policy at Hourglass Yoga is Respect. We ask that students maintain respect for other students, teachers, and the studio. Prohibited actions include: harmful or dangerous behavior and behavior during class that is disruptive to the teacher or other students. We have a no tolerance policy for the use of slurs or bigoted behavior. The studio reserves the right to ask anyone engaging in such behavior to leave the premises, and no refund will be issued.

Stay Home When Sick

Ahimsa

If you are experiencing any of the following, we insist that you refrain from coming into the studio: fever, respiratory symptoms such as cough, sneeze, runny nose, congestion, sore throat, contagious skin condition, or any other symptom of communicable disease. We appreciate everyone's cooperation and assistance in keeping our community healthy.

Be on Time

Be Respectful

We recommend arriving at least 10-15 minutes prior to the start of class time, or 20-30 minutes prior to the start of class for your first visit. At 5 minutes prior to class time, anyone not checked in may forfeit their spot in class if there is a wait list. We appreciate your understanding that doors will be closed, and there will be no further admittance once class begins. We strive to create a peaceful practice with as few disruptions as possible. Late arrivals will be treated as a late cancellation, with no refund for the missed session. In the event that there is a class immediately following the originally scheduled class, students may request staff to transfer their missed session if there is room in the next class.

What To Expect

First Class and More

Comfortable clothing is recommended. Denim is highly discouraged for yoga class. Many students prefer slightly fitted tops that won't gape open during movement, although other students prefer to simply tuck in a loose-fitting top. All students must wear top and bottom clothing in the studio.

Street shoes must be left in the cube storage at the back of the studio room. "Shower" shoes (rubber sandals, flip-flops, or slippers) may be worn for walking to mats or to the restrooms. Students who prefer not to practice barefoot on their mat may wear yoga socks or other socks with rubber or silicone grips. Regular athletic socks must be removed for class to avoid slipping on the mat.

Students are strongly encouraged to bring a water bottle for class. Please use plastic or metal containers; no glass is allowed during class.

Unfortunately due to space constraints, we do not have dedicated changing rooms at this time. While we have restrooms, please be aware and respectful that they are shared with a class capacity of 16 people. Arriving to class already wearing your yoga attire is strongly recommended.

There is a limited amount of open cube storage in the studio room for belongings. Please share the space with consideration. Hourglass Yoga is not responsible for students' belongings.

Phones must be silenced with no vibration or turned off completely during class. We ask that students leave them tucked in with belongings in the cube storage rather than bringing them to the mat.

Parking

Welcome

Limited parking is available in the lot behind the studio. If the lot is full, there is plentiful on-street and public parking within walking distance in Downtown Rocky Mount.

The studio lot is closed outside of studio hours. Unauthorized vehicles left in the lot past class times may be towed at the owner's expense. Please be respectful of this policy as the studio is available for event rentals outside of class hours.

Is This Hot Yoga?

Room/Environment

No, Hourglass Yoga does not offer hot yoga at this time. Our building has a single studio room in an open floor plan. The room and building are kept at a typical room temperature generally between 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit. Students are encouraged to bring a large towel or blanket to cover themselves with during savasana if they tend to cool down quickly or feel cold during our rest time.

Students are responsible for noting our available cleaning products in the case of allergies or reaction concerns prior to borrowing items.
